481 Cost Analysis and Control (3 cr)

Examines the financial framework within which the building industry operates, and its impact on design decisions. Further, the course develops in students the analytical skills necessary to evaluate financial and economic viability of project proposals; estimation of project development and operating costs, methods of finance, and market forces as components of feasibility studies.
Prerequisite: ARC 241

482 Professional Practice (3 cr)

Phases of management in which architects are involved, from inception of a project to its realization. Office organization, contractor and owner management of projects, construction-cost analysis, organization and preparation of construction documents, review of related legal papers and standardized forms, alternative patterns of construction management relations. Emerging patterns of architectural practice.
