Associate Professor Gary Scott Danford completed his doctoral studies in psychology at the University of Houston, and has focused his research on transactional theories of person-behavior-environment interactions, on issues of design and disablement, and on facilities programming, management and evaluation techniques. Danford is a senior research associate at the Center for Inclusive Design & Environmental Access (IDEA), and is principal investigator on federally sponsored research projects focusing on measuring environmental disabling influences on aging populations and persons with physical impairments. Danford’s work has been recognized with a Progressive Architecture Applied Research Award. His publications include Measuring Enabling Environments (with Steinfeld) and numerous chapters and articles in books and scholarly journals. Danford is an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Architecture and Planning Research and Environment and Behavior, and a member of the American Psychological Association and the Environmental Design Research Association
