Assistant Professor Kenneth S. MacKay received his professional degree in architecture from the University at Buffalo and Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University. A practicing architect, MacKay is the founder and owner of Kenneth MacKay Architecture established in 1995. The focus of both his built work and his scholarly work is natural and artificial light, building systems integration and the role that each of these play in generating form and space. Built work that have received awards include: Moog Federal Credit Union, Fountain Plaza Service Building and Beechwood Nursing Home which was included in a Progressive Architecture special issue. He is past president of the Buffalo/WNY chapter of the AIA and a past board member of AIA New York State. Recent work includes the design of the Wienberg Campus Total Aging in Place Project, a $9.5 million senior housing and day care complex for adults with Alzheimer's disease
