Dear Listserv Members:
We have moved the Home Mods and Visitability Listservs to a Message Board format. Everyone
who is a member of either list has been subscribed to the new Message Boards site.
This site has Boards on Universal Design, Home Mods and Inclusive Home Design. New
Boards can be created by request.
The Message Boards are part of a new website we developed called "Universal Design E-World."
This site has several tools for supporting a Community of Practice in Universal Design. A further
description is provided on the home page. The development of the site is funded by the RERC on
Universal Design and the Built Environment Project, based at the IDEA Center and sponsored by
the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.
To control access, we have instituted a login process. If you were already subscribed
to the Home Mods and/or Visitability Listservs, log in using the username in your email
address (everything before the @). We initially set your password to be the same as your
username so when you first log in, please change your password. If you were not previously
subscribed to a listserv, please be sure to Register.
Here are the instructions:
1) Go to www.udeworld.com
2) On the right hand side of the page you will see "Message Boards"
3) Click on any of the Boards – they all go to the same place
4) Log in or Register
5) To change your password, click on Profile on the menu bar at the top of
the Board page, then, to the left, select the link to Account Related Settings.
There you can scroll down and find the password boxes. Enter a new password,
confirm and it is done.
Please look around the Account Related Settings area and set up your account as you prefer.
Then, back out to Profile. Study the other options on the left for modifying your Profile.
Three profile settings to pay close attention to are:
1. The checkoff box under Account Related Settings where you can hide your email address from the public,
2. Notifications and Email where you can set options about how you are notified of postings, and
3. Forum Profile Information, where you can describe yourself, add an image to appear when you post a message,
etc.
We think you will really like this new approach to communication.
It will be different but, after a while you will appreciate the added
functionality, particularly being able to follow several threads of discussion
at the same time. One feature that is noteworthy is Polling. Anyone can poll
the members with a question. So, we can keep long running polls on issues like
"Will the Red Sox win the Championship or will they fade once more?"
and other important questions.
On August 15, we will disable access to the Home Mods and Visitability listservs.
We will maintain the public archives for your use, at least for a year.
Note that the same policies for use of the Boards apply as we had for the Listservs.
If you have any problems with access or the instructions, email idea@ap.buffalo.edu.
