Ms. Levine is a Registered Architect and the Assistant Director at the IDEA Center. She is also the Project Director for the Model Homes Project and Technical Assistance program for the RERC on Universal Design. She holds a Masters degree in Architecture from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York and a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University at Albany, State University of New York. She has more than 17 years of architectural practice experience and is an expert in the areas of ADA compliance, universal design, and accessible design. Her experience includes architectural design for residential and commercial buildings, home modifications, ADA compliance audits, accessibility assessments, feasibility studies, and post occupancy evaluations.
She recently completed designs for nine newly constructed, universally designed homes, including four model homes. Three of the four model homes have been exhibited in the 2003, 2005 and 2007 Horizon Parade of Homes in collaboration with Richard Bergman/Heartland Homes. She has also been responsible for designing over 450 home modification projects.
Ms. Levine is co-author of several publications, including books, technical reports, websites and multimedia presentations on universal design and accessibility. Most recently she was the editor-in-chief and co-author of the book “Universal Design New York 2”, which is designed to assist architects, developers, city officials and others in the City of New York to implement universal design principles.
