This symbol is based on the mathematical symbol for equal ‘=’ and the letter ‘D’. The equal sign is imbedded within the letter, and forms the negative space of the letter. The left side of the equal sign is open to allow an opening or connection to the space around the letter, and to suggest an open connection between equality and its context.
