This symbol was an initial prototype, based on the mathematical symbol for equal ‘=’ and an abstracted letter D (for 'design'), the connotation of the equal symbol is internationally recognized, and transcends any possible cultural association. The abstracted D indicates the connection between different levels of design, conveying the message that design can accommodate – and connect – all users.
